Author
Jan Stachniuk 1905-1963

He was born on 13 January 1906 in a fairly poor workers’ family in Kovel. He graduated from the Poznań School of Commerce (Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa w Poznaniu), engaging in ZPMD (Association of Polish Democratic Youth) and then founding the Zadruga magazine, where he was the main ideologist. The Zadruga environment was one of the very few circles, if not the only one, that promoted anti-Catholic slogans. During the war he was associated with the Party of the National Uprising (Stronnictwo Zrywu Narodowego), and edited its magazine Zryw and almost entirely filled it with his own articles. During the Warsaw Uprising, he fought in the Home Army units. After the war, he engaged in writing for a short period but then was imprisoned (1949–1955). After leaving prison, he did not continue his political or writing career. He died on 14 August 1963 in Warsaw. His main publications include: Kolektywizm a naród. Heroiczna wspólnota narodu, Dzieje bez dziejów. Człowieczeństwo i kultura, Walka o zasady, Wspakultura.
