Born in Wiener Neustadt (Austria) on the 27th of October, 1913; he died in Guatemala on the 26th of June, 1961. He studied at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH). In March 1939, together with his wife he left for France, which was supposed to be just a stage in their journey to Argentina, where he was to take up employment in the local agency of the Polski Export Żelaza company. However, due to the outbreak of war, he remained in France, working in a factory and collaborating with the Polish Office. During his stay in France he also wrote his most famous work Szkice piórkiem (1957). After the war he settled down in Guatemala in 1948 and ran a model shop. He was also a regular collaborator of the most important Polish émigré magazine – the “Kultura” of Paris, and also contributed to the second leading title, namely, the London “Wiadomości”.
