Mieczysław Szawleski 1888-1942

Consul of the Republic of Poland in New York, deputy of the Seym of the 3rd term in the Second Polish Republic (1930–1935) on behalf of BBWR (Non-Partisan Block for Cooperation with the Government). During the Second World War he was an activist of the Government Delegation for Poland. He was murdered on 16 October 1942 by the Germans in a public execution of Pawiak prisoners in Warsaw. His written works include Kwestja emigracji w Polsce (1927), Polska na tle gospodarki światowej (1928), Na przełomie naszego ustroju państwowego (1929), Światowy kryzys gospodarczy i położenie Polski (1931), Quo Vadere (1933), Polonizm, ustrój narodu polskiego (1938).
