Born in Rykhtychi (present-day Ukraine) on the 10th of February, 1813. He attended schools in Drohobych, Chernivtsi, and Ternopil, and then studied law at the University of Lviv. He was employed by the district authorities of Bochnia, and then of Lviv. In 1851 he became an assistant curator of the Ossolineum (or, the National Ossoliński Institute) and held that post until 1869. In 1873 he became a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, and three years later – a deputy to the Diet of Galicia and Lodomeria. Although he had no historical education, his historical studies enjoyed considerable popularity, but were also criticized sometimes as biased and conforming to the Ultramontane doctrine, of which Dzieduszycki was one of the leading propagators. His works include Piotr Skarga i jego wiek (1850), Zbigniew Oleśnicki (1854-1854), Ojczyzna (1867), Dwie polityczne unie, kolmarska i lubelska (1873), and Nieprzeliczeni (1877). He died in Lviv on the 22nd of April, 1877.
